MEET KELLY, PT, DPT
Pregnancy and postpartum physical therapist, mother of four, founder of Cardinal Birth.
I'm Kelly, a Doctor of Physical Therapy with advanced training in pregnancy, birth biomechanics, and undisturbed physiology. My practice brings together clinical care and deep respect for pregnancy, birth, and becoming a mother.
My story
I have experienced birth in many forms: a breech baby born by cesarean, two hospital VBACs, and a home birth where my baby arrived before the midwife, with my partner and older children beside me.
Each birth taught me something different. The lesson that stayed was this: birth responds to the body, and a baby responds to the environment of the womb and the state of the mother carrying them. I know what it is to prepare carefully, and what it is to surrender completely.
WHY I MOVED UPSTREAM
Meeting mothers before birth, not only after.
For years, I helped women recover from birth: leaking, pain, prolapse, and the feeling that their bodies had changed without warning. Again and again I wondered what would have been possible if we had met during pregnancy.
That question became Cardinal Birth. I look at how posture, movement patterns, pelvic mechanics, breathing, and the nervous system influence pregnancy and birth, not in isolation, but as an integrated system shared by mother and baby. Then I use hands-on care, intentional movement, and education to prepare your body for birth and lay a foundation for recovery afterward.
Mother and baby, together
Mamatoto, the mother and baby considered as one, guides this work. Your baby grows within your body and will make their journey through it. Caring for you is caring for your baby.
